DIY : Hair Masks that have always worked for me

Hello Beauties,

Why is it when we tell the hairdresser to maintain the length while getting a haircut it is as good as saying chop as much as you want .

My recent trip to salon was so disastrous that the hair lying on the floor were longer than the hair on my head .

Well I’ll leave that behind because I know  few homemade masks that will help my tresses grow back.

These masks will provide shine, strength and stimulate hair growth.

1. Oil treatment

This has always been my goto mask when I am in a hurry or feeling lazy.

It’s very effective in providing shine and growth for your hair.

Come on we say old is gold for a reason.

What you need :

  •  2 tsp of coconut oil
  •  2 tsp on almond oil
  •  2 tsp of avocado oil
  •  ½ tsp of Vitamin E oil.

Mix all the oils in a bowl( heat resistant).

Heat some water in a vessel and place the bowl with oil on the vessel so that oil is

warm enough to be applied on your scalp.

Once the oil is warm, massage it on your scalp in circular motion.

Make sure you massage your scalp completely.

Then apply the remaining oil on your hair. Again concentrate on the tips because for

my hair the tips are the dullest part.

Keep this treatment on your hair for min 30 min.

For best effects keep it overnight and wash off your hair with your favourite

Make sure you wash off all of the oil from your hair to avoid oily scalp.

2. Banana and Egg Mask.

This mask has been my holy grail for my hair from the day I have tried this mask for the first

time. Trust me your hair will become bouncy , healthy and shinier soon after you wash your hair.

What you need :

  • 1 ripe banana
  • 1 tsp milk
  • 1 tsp oil of your choice
  •  1 egg
  •  1 tsp honey
Banana-Egg Hair Mask

Banana-Egg Hair Mask

Take a bowl and mash banana completely till there are no chunks

Add the egg and remaining items from the list and mix them well with mashed

Apply it on your scalp and hair. Mind you it will be messy.

Once you are sure you have applied it all all your hair, cover your head with a shower

cap. Let the mask sit for 30- 60 min.

Wash off your hair. Avoid using hot water to wash your hair because of the eggs.

Make sure you have cleaned all the banana chunks trapped in your hair if any.

Let your hair dry and you will start noticing the difference .

Best part of this mask is you can drop the remaining ingredients besides banana and

egg and achieve almost same results.

3. Fenugreek seeds( seeds) mask.

This mask is the best when you want to focus on the growth of your hair.

There are 2 ways of preparing the mask using different ingredients and I am listing both.

I do not use curd on my hair because it doesn’t suit me and gives me dandruff. But I have tried this mask with curd on my friends and it works really well for them. I had to look for alternative ingredient for this mask and came up with milk and banana.

What you need :

  • 50 gm. fenugreek seeds (soaked overnight)
  •  1 cup curd

  •  1 tsp milk and 1 ripe banana

Soak the methi seeds overnight or at least for 6 hrs.

Blend it to a fine paste using little water.

Mix the paste with curd or milk and mashed banana.

Apply it on your scalp and hair focusing more on the scalp.

Keep it on for 30- 60 min. and wash off with shampoo.

Let your hair dry and you will notice how soft your hair already feel.

I would recommend you to use this mask every other week, as methi seeds provide an intensive treatment for your scalp and hair so best use it once every 2 weeks. You will soon start noticing the growth rate in your hair.

Few pointers:

  •  While giving oil treatment to your hair, flip your head down and massage your heat for 2-3 mins. This will boost your hair growth. Please don’t overdo it.
  •  Avoid keeping the oil treatment for a long time if you have an oily scalp.
  • You can replace or add any no. of oils to oils of your choice to the oil treatment.
  • For the banana and egg mask, after your hair are almost dry, take a large tooth comb and just brush your hair, don’t pull the hair near the scalp. This will get out banana chunks still stuck in your hair.
  •  If you find soaking Fenugreek seeds and blending it later cumbersome, you can always powder the Fenugreek seeds in a blender  and keep it in a jar. And whenever you need to use it, just soak the methi powder in water for 1-2 hrs.

That’s all ladies, I will be back with more DIY masks as and when I start trying new stuff.

Till then feel beautiful and stay connected.
