Hope you are doing well and enjoying the weekend. The weather in my city is quiet pleasant and I can’t wait to go outside and do some street shopping today. Before that I have to finish this post. :). If I haven’t mentioned it earlier then telling it now: Deepika Padukone is one of my favorite actress in Bollywood. I like her personality, her body , her poise and what not. She is one of the beautiful and talented actresses in our country. She obviously has a good fashion style in her personal and public life. But even her movies have started many fashion and beauty related trends every year. I wanted to list few of the major trends started by her looks in her movies. Read on to know more.
1 . Retro look from Om Shanti Om.
Starting in the order of movies she has acted in, this was her first movie, where she brought the retro look back in style. I remember I was in college at that time and went as Deepika Padukone in our college’s Bollywood theme event. Her bouffant and winged liner look was the most copied from the movie. She looked so simple yet so stylish in her vintage hairstyle with perfect curls. And her winged eyeliner was spot on!!!She also brought in the long sleeves and bell sleeves back with this movie.
2. Anarkali/Flared Kurtis from Love Aaj Kal
I fell in love with Deepika from this movie onwards. Trendy and chic was her style, but what trended was her anarkali/Flared kurti. I remember loading my closet with such kurtis. Perfect blend of western and Indian fashion. You could wear it on jeans or chudidar. They were available in so many prints and colors and different neck styles. Just to highlight, they are still in trend but only longer versions.
3. Chic and Urban Style from Cocktail
As if I couldn’t admire Deepika more, she emerges as a fashion icon from cocktail movie. I can keep on watching this movie even today just to see her clothes and style. It is a chic fashion show for me where Deepika is the only model. She brought all the clothes put on her to life. Floral prints, spring look, monotone outfits, party look, 70’s look, chic and urban look and what not. She was treat to watch int his movie. Her fishtail braids from this movie became the most followed style. And her looks could be easily recreated with affordable and available pieces.
4. Blue Saree from Yeh Jawaani hai Deewani
She rocked the nation with her blue chiffon saree in the song Badtameez dil song. Glamorous, sexy and so chic at the same time. Her royal blue sheer chiffon saree is so simple to style and can look elegant or sexy based on the blouses you choose. Her look was put together by designer Manish Malhotra who wanted to show the transition of a young girl to a sexy and confident woman. I must say the message was sent loud and clear.
5. Independent working woman look from Piku
Deepika played an independent, workaholic daughter who balanced her work life and her father’s demands in this movie. Her clothes were spot on which could be worn effortlessly by anyone, in any size, in any age group. It was perfect fusion of tradition and professional style. Cotton kurtas with palazzo pants and mojris. And she carried the same convenient brown bag in every outfit which is so relatable. Also she rocked the simple saree look with kohled eye look. And she has repeated many of her staple accessories and pieces throughout the movie.
6. Care free look in Tamasha
I am in awe with the story and style of this movie. Deepika carried every dress put on her with poise and care free attitude. The outfits were so comfortable and care free. Nothing out of the box. It has inspired many girls to incorporate most of her looks in their everyday style. I too did a travel outfit series inspired by this movie. You can check it out HERE.
