With Diwali just around the corner, I wanted to review an eye shadow palette which is affordable, versatile and easily available in India: The Maybelline The nudes palette.
I also decided to show 2 eye makeup looks that you can easily re-create with this palette : 1 soft and easy look and other more bold look.
I hope you enjoy this post and I will try to put forward more such posts for Diwali.
Product: Maybelline The nudes Eyeshadow Palette
Price: Rs.899/- (always on discount)
Availability: Available across all Maybelline counters at Central, Shopper’s Stop, Westside, etc. And also online in all leading shopping sites.
Packaging: It comes in sleek black box with a transparent cover. The box is sturdy and not bulky. Apt for travelling. Doesn’t come with a mirror which is a drawback. It has 12 eye shadows altogether with a mixture of mattes and shimmers. It comes with a double ended sponge applicator, which unfortunately I have misplaced and couldn’t find it for the photos.
Detailed Review: This palette was an impulse buy as it was on sale and also I wanted to review it for the blog. I was never looking forward to buying it I am not sure why though. It was released last year so I am way behind in reviewing it. But I do know many people own this palette or are waiting to purchase it. So thought what better time to review it than during Diwali.
Like I said it comes with 12 nude eye shadows which are a mixture of mattes and shimmers. For the price point, the color range is amazing. There are 5 mattes in mixture of beige, grey and brown shades. The shimmer shades are varied, which such a bonus. You have the beige, bronze, golden and browns.
The shadows have no shade names or numbers. On the back side, they have mentioned the various looks you could create using the duos, trio or quads combinations. This is a great idea if you are a beginner and want to try out various looks.
I am not so impressed with the mattes in the palette. They are not so pigmented and we need to blend a lot to get the desired intensity. The black shade in palette is not a blackest of black which is a bummer.
The shimmer shades are pretty intense and pigmented. Easy on blending. There is a lot of fallout. And few shades have chunky glitters in them as you would see in the pictures below.
Overall it is a fine palette, definitely not a must-have. These shades will work better on fairer skin. When I say better, the colour pay off will be good. I had to struggle a bit for the colours to actually show on my skin.
Coming to the looks, I made the 1st look very subtle and simple with no liner.
And 2nd look a more bold with liner and lots of shimmer eyeshadow.
Apply 3 all over the lid. Work 8 into the crease till you are satisfied with the intensity.Apply 11 from 1/4th of the lid working it outwards. Just keep on packing it on the lid and blending it outwards. Apply 1 s a highlighter on the brow bone and inner corners. If you want , you can finish off the look with a liner on upper lash line too.
Apply 5 all over the lid. Work 6 into the crease till you are satisfied with the intensity.Apply 9 from 1/4th of the lid working till inner corner. Just keep on packing it on the lid and blending it outwards.Apply 4 on the remaining lid blending it outwards. Again keep packing and blending it away. Apply 1 s a highlighter on the brow bone and inner corners.Using a liner brush apply 12 on the upper lash line. Using same brush apply 4 &12 to the lower lash line giving your eye bit of a depth. Finish off the entire look with lots of mascara.
